Stiff Neck - Cancer Message Board

Not sure what forum to use for this question, but I have had a stiff neck for more than a couple of months. It appears to be getting worse and worse. If I bend my head forward and then bring it back up, it really causes pain on my left side about an two inches from the backside of my ear. Now I've developed a rash in that area, which the doctor "thought" might be ringworm but the treatment hasn't helped.

Any suggestions?

You need to get this checked out. It's probably a disc problem, and you could be putting yourself in serious danger if you wait. I had a stiff neck on and off for about a year. Then one day it started to hurt all the time. To make a long story short, my disc was about to cut through my spinal cord and paralize me. I had to go for emergency surgery (which wasn't as bad as it sounds) and now I'm much better. I still wonder if I could have avoided the surgery by having it checked before it got bad. Your dr. will probably have you take an MRI (painless) to determine the exact problem. Good luck.
