| a concern any information would be greatly appreciated
My husband 44 years old. He is on a sleep apnea monitor and always used bottled water in it. we went on vacation and he used tap water upon returning to our home he got ill, hard time breathing, chest pains, thought he was having a heart attack took him to ER and they put him in the ICU/heart side. While there for 3 days...they took lots of blood, x-rays, catscans.. and the only thing they said before we left was that he had some nodules on his thyroid. he was to go see a lung specialist (which we had seen the week prior due to his diabetes doctor recommendedations) when we saw the lung doctor she said oh I see that you had pneumonia.. We both said say what?? no one in the hospital ever told us he had pneumonia. well that was what I thought he had and I thought it was due to using the tap water and no one can tell me it wasnt?... anyways then they were concerned over the nodules and sent him to another doctor who in turn wasn't to worried about them but my husband began having trouble swallowing and his voice has changed drastically. So finally they did send him for a cat scan and found 3 nodules one a large one and 2 smaller ones. (size I do not know), but the larger one looked like the size of a quarter on the scan that I saw. So then they ordered a biopsy which came back as suspicious to cancer and sent him to a ENT. Who in turn did a scope of his throat in the office. and said his tonsils are very enlarded (which we already knew). they need to be removed, along with the nodules. His sleep apnea needs to be under control or they would have to do a tracheotomy possibly while he is in surgery. and they didn't want to do that. So the ENT said that at this point 20% of these nodules turn out to be cancerous. And that he needs to get his acid reflux under control before the surgery as well. He had a barium swallow done last week and those results came back normal... (whatever that means)
These are his symptoms/sicknesses as well.
Diabetic, high blood pressure, obesity--- illnesses
hard time swallowing, tiredness, hoarseness--voice changed drastically over the past 9 months -- symptoms
We just are so tired of not knowing why he is having difficulty swallowing and him being so tired all of a sudden. And why can't they just take the nodules out and check to see if they are cancerous. No one has had that type of cancer in his family that we know of. they have had prostate cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer on both sides of his family. Just this wait and see game is driving us nuts. Dont have another appt with the ENT until the end of June.
