Bad Time With Xeloda - Cancer Message Board

My wife is having a real bad time with Xeloda, spent the last week in the hospital. In fact she has been off it for almost two weeks now and she seems to be getting worse. I really can not see her back on the cemo route. Was Texotere a drug the preceeded Xeloda in the metastized cancer therapy? Wondering if that would be as effective and less problems with the intestinal system. Any other infustion drugs people may have used in place of Xeloda? She is also on Femara, no problems with that one. Even with Zofran it did not help.

Unfortunately, everyone reacts differently to each chemotherapy. I'm not familiar with Xeloda, but you both should talk to your wife's doctor about this. Different chemotherapies work for different types of cancer although, of course, there's a lot of overlap. It's hard to say if taxotere or anything else would work for your wife's particular type of cancer. However, there usually is more than one chemo that works for a particular type of cancer, so the question to ask her doctor is, are there any other chemos that work for this type of cancer and can we try those?
