Hi all,

Just thought I'd post an update... As of January this year, my dad's doctors were unable to find any more cancer cells.

We are extremely excited and happy about this news, but also cautious at the same time (since they were unable to find the primary source in the first place).

He went through 6 rounds of Chemo, and about 2 months of radiation on the area they found the cancer. Unfortunately, with this treatment he has developed Neuropathy in his feet and hands and is working on adjusting to the symptoms and pain. I know he's pretty uncomfortable (and sometimes a bit grouchy about it) but I'm just so happy that he is still with us!

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to everyone who has taken the time to read and respond to my posts - even though I'm mostly a lurker.

lynn, i'am so happy for you and your family . that is great news. now you can rest a little easier. i know you never quit worrying but maybe you guys can enjoy the good news. will continue to keep your dad in prayers for continued recovery....melissa

Hi Lynn,

That's such good news about your dad! Tell him not to give up hope regarding the neuropathy...a good deal of it may go away over time. Most (not quite all, but MOST) of the neuropathy in my feet went away after about a year. One thing that helped was wearing gel heel pads...I had very severe neuropathy in my left heel, and that is totally gone now.

He could try taking ALA (Alpha Lipoic Acid) along with GLA (gamma linolenic acid) for the neuropathy...some people have had great success with that. If you go to the diabetes board and do a search for neuropathy, you will probably find the thread where I posted the dosages, which had been given to me by someone else.
