can someone help me on this. My mom was diagnosed with MG (Myasthenia Gravis) with a malignant thymoma size of 27mm in capsule form next to her lung. The surgery seems to be sucessful but the capsule was observed penetrated by the cell spreading to the left lungs. According to the surgeon, the capsule was also found abutting the heart membrane. As at today the oncology has recommended my mother for radiation theraphy but commented that the dosage of radiation cannot be increased as it involve with the heart tissue. He further added that there is nothing much can be done except consentrating the radiation on the infected area instead of direct to the heart which is only classified as 'abutting'. Did someone understand what is this oncology trying to say? it sound like my mom is reaching the end of her life.
i am so curious and worry why is she goign thru the 6 weeks of radiation (currently completed 3 weeks) but was commented that a radiation will be given to her heart but too limited dosage while full radiation will be done to the infected area. is that means they are leaving behind the heart tissue for spreading while treating the lungs area?
