Hi, I am not sure I can answer your question fully, but I can tell you that my Mom died of pancreatic cancer about a year and a half ago. She did not get jaundice until pretty late in the game. Usually jaundice can be caused by problems with the liver or the bile duct. If the bile is not draining properly, then the bile is absorbed into the blood rather than being excreted in the bowel movements. I think there must be something wrong with the liver or gall bladder if there is jaundice but no obstruction. When my Mom got jaundiced they found that her bile duct was blocked and they inserted a stent to drain the bile into a bag. This relieved the jaundice, but that bag was a constant reminder to her that she was very ill. In the long run, it didn't really help her all that much. Of course, by the time we found out she had cancer she was already very near death. She actually found out accidentally. The doctors had told her she had gall stones and needed her gall bladder removed. She went in for laparoscopic surgery for removal of her gall bladder. When they looked inside, she was full of cancer all over everywhere. They told her she might have 2 to 6 months to live, and she was gone in only 3 weeks. It was devastating. I hope your situation is better. I'm sorry I haven't been more uplifting or encouraging. I wish I knew more what to say to help you and make you feel better.
