i found a small hard painless lump 2 inches below my ear does that mean i have cancer
I found a small, hard, painless lump about 1 & 1/2 inches below my left ear about 5 weeks ago. I can't feel it unless I press down on it. Like I said, it doesn't hurt and it's not really getting any bigger. I think it may be in my muscle but I'm not sure. I noticed it when i was sick, but i've been over my symptoms for a week now and the lump is still there. I don't have insurance so I can't go to the doctor. Does this mean I have cancer?

I have the same thing in the very same place!. After much poking/prodding/showing the doctor and reading I came to the conclusion that it's just a lymph node!. I hope that makes you feel a bit better .

Thanks for your feedback Jim . As I already HAVE CINIII (cervical cancer stage 0), it's something not far from my mind on the best of days.
I eat healthy, have a good immune system (rarely get sick), and have an active lifestyle and still got cancer that a DOCTOR diagnosed........I'm 1 out of 10 000....

Treehugger,
It may be a swollen lymph node due to the virus you had. You may have to get on antibiotics to see if the swelling goes down. If not, then I would go to an ear nose throat specialist to have it looked at. Just because you dont have insurance doesnt mean you cant go to the doctor, unless of course you meant you couldnt afford it. If thats the case, I would try to make it work, because if it is "just a lymph node" and it is swollen and palpable and doesnt go away, it would be cause for concern.
