does cancer show up in a routine blood test

I'm thinking no. Maybe specific cancers such as leukaemia does, as that would show an abnormality on the blood cells. There are certain things that show in the blood which would alert a Doctor to go for further tests, but unless you are having symptoms and your blood showed some sort of abnormality, i dont think cancer does show up specifically.

worrybucket is right in saying that leukemia would show in a routine blood test.
as for other cancers the answer is no.
it surprises me to know that very many people still think that they cannot have cancer because they just had a blood test and the results were normal.
if only it were that simple.

Right.
I did a routine 12 hour fast blood test a week BEFORE they discovered my Cancer.. and the blood test showed nothing about cancer at all.
Matter of fact it showed pretty much perfect health !!!!!!!

at least I started healthy per that kind of stuff in my cancer fight.

All the cancer treatments HARD on a persons system so I'm probably not so perfect now (treatment side effect anemic problem has raised an ugly head)

I did not know this. I was under the assumption, too, that if bloodwork was normal, all was ok. Thanks 4 the insight!!
