ultrasound vs CT with contrast.

Has anyone had experience with both? I have swollen lymph nodes. Family DR. wanted Ultrasound of neck but ENT wants CT scan with contast of neck. Which would be better at determining why my glands are so swollen (not painful) I have Apt. for CT on Wed. but was wondering if I should go with first Dr. for ultrasound? ANY IDEA'S???

Re: ultrasound vs CT with contrast.

Had my CT w/contrast today. Made me very nauseaus and rapid heart beat. No big deal it passed. Has anyone had a "backache" from it? It feels like my kidneys are on fire. But I know my kidneys are healthy. Will this too pass? I can't sleep, is there anything I can do to help this? Please help!

Re: ultrasound vs CT with contrast.

I had a head and neck CT with contrast last summer.
The ENT told me that a head and neck CT is basically useless without the contrast, because it's hard to differentiate between all the different stuff in there.

My results were fine, and the CT scan itself was nothing. The contrast dye just made me feel slightly warm. it was not an unpleasant feeling (except that I was scared to death, lol).
Nothing about the experience was painful or unpleasant, except having the IV inserted.
If I had to do it again, i wouldn't be scared.
