Re: Cancer, carcinomatosis of peritoneal cavity..

My mother died of a retro-peritoneal sarcoma...the worst of the peritoneal cancers and died in just 3 months. But that was almost 40 years ago. I understand(since I'm worried I'll get it) that even that horrible form is treatable. They now do a bone marrow transplant as the radiation kills all the cancer cells and the bone marrow so they take your own marrow(no need for a donor), do the radiation and then give you back your own marrow. But like your sister-in-law, they can't do it right after surgery or the body won't heal. You have to wait for the body to heal from the surgery first and once that happens, then they can start radiation and/or chemo.

So there is hope now...wasn't back when mom had it. And I few prayers won't hurt either so I'll add her to my prayers...these peritoneal cancers are the worst and she needs the prayers of anyone and everyone.

Let me know what they decide to do for her, would you? I kind of have a vested interest. Isn't the same as what mom had but close enough.

good luck to you and her............Jenny
