| Temporal Bone Cancer? Help!
As if enough hasn't gone wrong lately...
I have had off and on ear pain and constant hearing loss with ringing for at least eight months now. A month ago I had a spike in the pain and after a quick look and the Dr. saying it was the worst ear infection she had seen in someone my age I was given antibiotic ear drops. It got worse. Back to the doctor my ear was swollen even more so they talked about inserting tubes but went with antibiotic oral and ear drops along with a pain killer.
The pain is radiating to my temple, my jaw, and my neck and has been so painful I have been vomiting and dizzy before the antibiotics. along with that I have lost weight and I am trying to gain.
Another visit resulted in another change of antibiotics and a stronger pain killer because of dark green/brown pus. Also a referral to an ENT after discovering a "thing" in my ear which was discolored and apparently they were clueless as to what it was but wrote cyst in the notes.
With all the antibiotics I developed Thrush and had to return to the DR. With my most recent visit my Dr became worried (that makes me feel good...) when looking at my glands which I told her from the beginning were swollen and tender as well as the pain not dwindling especially with the pain killer I am on. She wants me to see another specialist for the possibility of cancer.
Should I be worried or is this routine. I don't have anyone else to talk to about this with because of my location to family and I don't want them to demand I see a Dr. closer to home and frantically worry because I can't.
