10 yr old son with desmoid fibromatosis
I'm new to these types of forums but looking for a little bit of support from others that have been in the same situation.
I just got the biopsy results last night for my ten year old son. It is confirmed that he has a desmoid fibromatosis on the right posterior lateral chest wall surrounding the 9th, 10th, and 11th ribs. We are being seen at Johns Hopkins Pediatric Oncology in Baltimore. The next step is to meet with the pediatric surgeon to discuss removal of the tumor and set up the surgery date. I've done as much research on this thing as I can and keep getting discouraged when I read others stories. What's recovery like from the removal of something like this? Are they going to have to remove ribs? Do they replace the ribs with anything else? I'm so confused.
