Long stringy white things in my urine - Candida?

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this - I have long stringy white things (unidentified) in my urine. I know that right now I am over run with Candida, so I think that might be the cause. I have more of this in my urine if I drink Pao DArco tea. Is there a place that can test your urine to see what those things actually are? I can't think of anywhere I could have it tested. I don't want to assume it is Candida, although that is my best guess. I also recently did a three month Parasite and colon cleanse and my urine was clear during the colonix cleanse. Since I stopped the cleanse last month, all of my Candida symptoms have returned with a vengeance. I have thrush too. Anyhow, I am doubling up on acidophilus for the Candida right now and drinking Pao DArco tea.

Re: Long stringy white things in my urine - Candida?

I have not yet been able to determine if there is a acidophilus supplement that really makes it past the acids in your stomach in significant numbers. I am currently taking Lactobacillus GG (Culturelle from Conagra Foods) but will probably add Garden of Life's Fungal Defense and Primal Defense - you start with the fungal for 2 weeks then switch. It supposedly has HSO's that make it past the stomach acid. Who knows? Too bad there isn't much interest in the medical community regarding Nutrition.

I was a little dissapointed to read you have been doing a cleanse for 3 months without success. I've been at it two weeks and notice no changes in my stool. I'm using Capryl and Oil of Oregano Capsules, Fresh Garlic (Hard to stomach so I cover it with Olive Oil), and Unrefined Spectrum Brand Coconut Oil. I will see a Natropath on Monday that knows a lot about Candida.

Did you follow the diet closely? I am doing all that I can in that regard, I eat chicken, beef (Natural - no antiboitics), red peppars, more garlic (cooked), onions, and raw almonds. It's tough becaue I don't know what else is "safe" to eat. I read one diet and it says fresh tomatoes are okay, then the next says they are not. Another says you can eat a small amount of Granny Smith Apples, but no others. I am trying this today for the first time in 2 weeks. I tried a small amount of blueberries (again okay on some versions not on others) 2 days ago and didn't feel better but don't know if I felt worse. Other than that NO fruit at all. No Dairy, basically only the mentioned foods and a few sunflower seeds (same goes, okay on some not on others). The diet is the worst part, well and the taste of the wormwood, clove liquid stuff - YUK! I can't taste the capsules because I swallow them fast.

I did read somewhere that Pau D'Arco is something you don't want to take for a long time and you need to break from it. Might not be good for the liver. So I take the Capryl and the Oil of Oregeno Capsules. Hopefully the new Natropath will have some good insights as to whether I really have Candida, as I have many many symptoms in regard to "flu like" illness, but no visible signs (Thrush, White Patches, etc.).

By the way the active ingredients in ParaGon and Colonix are very similar. Neither gives exact formulation, and ParaGon adivises Flax Seed over Phyllsium Husks, because the Phyllsium Husks absorb liquid. I find if I drink a lot of water it doesn't matter, so I have added Phyllsium Seed Husks and it is helping my bowel movements. Before I started the cleanse I had perfectly normal bowel movements - at least one major one each moring and again usually smaller in the afternoon. Since taking the ParaGon the bowel movements have become more distant, but still one per day. It may be just the diet and elimination of fruits. I used to eat my share of fiber in the forum of whole grains and fruits. So I don't think I have parasites but I may have Yeast. I had many amalgams removed and need to explore that angle (detox) still. I take many supplements but need more, and hope the Doctor will be able to help.

I still fail the "spit test". And I would guess (but not with certainty) that a white discharge in the urine is probably related to the yeast, especially if you are female. I am male and my urine has always been pretty close to clear due to the large amounts of bottled water I drink.

Not much solid material makes it past the rigid filtering system of the kidneys. Urine is produced on a microscopic level. What you are probably seeing is vaginal discharges, normal mucous and protein-ish stuff washing out with your urine. It could also be yeasty byproducts. Unless you are male, of course and then I would definitely see my MD. I have those strings and I don't have yeast problems now.

As far as yeast, it loves sugar as it's food. Ditch sugar, bread, grains, corn, potatoes, rice, beer and alcohol and see how you do. I find my yeast cannot tolerate that low sugar environment and soon disappears. Thrush is a pretty extreme situation with yeast. Are you on antibiotics or steriods?

Re: Long stringy white things in my urine - Candida?

Hi, thanks again for the replies and information. I took massive antiobiotics two years ago for a suspected lyme disease. Three months of doxycycline, it nearly killed me. And I'm not even sure it killed the lyme disease. No steriod use, healthy diet, moderate exercise. For the past six months, no sugar, man made carbs, eat organic fish and poultry, some meats, increased to two eggs every morning to increase protein because I was eating alot of veggies, fruit and raw foods. I had 13 amalgams removed last summer and have improved immensely since then. I am female. The white things are definitely in my urine, not coming from anywhere else.

Jennifer,
You sound like your know your stuff. If urine is filtered, then I guess the white things are not coming from the urinary tract at all? Why do you say thrush is extreme for yeast? I am watching my diet - but the yeast books contradict eachother with some items that you can or cannot eat for Candida control.

Well, not to beat a dead horse but the peehole is located pretty much at the vaginal opening and can drag little bits of vaginal mucous and discharges with it when you urinate. A good test might be to wipe with a moist towelette and really clean your vag opening, then insert a tampon and then urinate and see if they go away.

I am not a urine specialist so maybe someone else may know if these white strandy things are anything to worry about. I am well and I see them too. In fact, on my last physical, my urine sample had a couple small ones and the doc never said anything about them.

As far as the anitbiotics, I tell everyone I know that I wouldn't take them unless pus was flowing from every orafice in my body. They are so damaging. Lyme Disease is obviously something you have to take VERY seriously so I agree that it was a necessary evil.

I wonder if there are colonics that can re-introduce good bacteria back into your colon?

This sounds like symptoms of a Urinary tract infection to me.

Re: Long stringy white things in my urine - Candida?

I am having a full physical next month with a new female physician. I will ask her about the urinary tract infection idea and the mucosa from the vaginal tract, and maybe try the tampon trick to see what happens. I knew there wouldn't be a huge response to this track, no one seems to have long stringy white things in their urine. I did start getting UTIs last Fall, and my first one was so bad (or maybe it was a bladder infection), the urine catch I got was bright red. That's how much fresh blood was in it, boy was I in pain. I immediately started drinking unsweetened cranberry juice and taking acidophilus. I agree on the antibiotics - anti-life - drugs, but for the lyme disease I couldn't take a chance.

Re: Long stringy white things in my urine - Candida?

Yipes! Ok, a UTI is a bladder infection pretty much. It's hard to get an upper level UTI (kidney infection) without the bladder being involved.

Despite my admonitions against antibiotics, it's remarkably dangerous to not take antibiotics when you have a bladder infection. The earlier the better. Especially with gross hematuria (visible blood.) I keep a prescription of Septra at home, with my MD's blessing, in case I get one. Mine are very quick to progress. For instance, my first painful urination is only about 1-2 hours from the time no urine will flow. Bacteria, usually E.Coli from your bowels are the main culprit, and can progress up the ureters to your kidneys and cause scarring, and/or renal failure and death in a very short time. Use cranberry juice, unsweetened, as a preventive measure. Sugar in the juice defeats the benefits.

Usually I only need one or two pills before the infection is completely gone but that is NOT the prescribed course. You should follow your MD's instructions with any drug. I just happen to catch mine quickly because of the previously stated reasons and find, after many years of experience, that that dose works for me. Usually not enough to work on my bowels in a negative way.

UTI's are easy to prevent if you follow some simple rules which I find MD's reluctant to discuss:

Never wipe your bowel movements from back toward the front.

Anal sex infects your partner with virulent bacteria from your rectum and if soap and water are not used to THOROUGHLY clean his penis (or sex toy) you can easily infect your vagina or bladder. Even if the penis touches against your anus, which happens easily, infection can result.

WIth conventional sexual activity, the friction on the opening of the urethra can set up an inflammation of the opening and cause urine to not fully empty from the bladder, leading to infection. AKA: Honeymoon cystitis.

With conventional sex, the thrusting action of the penis or toy can push bacteria into the urethral canal and if prompt urination doesn't take place afterwards, an infection can take hold.

Some women report UTI's from using certain brands of perfumed and/or "softer" brands of toilet paper. The more fibery papers leave behind particles that act as irritants that can inflame the urethral opening, setting up for reduced flow. Same with bubble bath products and not rinsing soap in the shower.

Using tampons can interrupt the normal flow of urine and remnants of urine not flushed out can set you up for an infection. Remove your tampon before each urination.

Inflammation of the vagina, secondary to a yeast infection can contribute as well.

Those are the most common reasons but anything that compromises the flow outward, which is the urethra's cleansing and protection method, can help an infection to blossom.

PS I had another MD visit today and my urine sample had a couple of white blips, not as long as before and she said I was fine.

Re: Long stringy white things in my urine - Candida?

Jennihul, Now that I think back, my MD did give me an antibiotic (was not Septra) for that UTI or bladder infection, but she was not at all alarmed about the amount of blood in my urine. I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital, I was so upset when I saw my catch. I am not exaggerating, it was the color of cranberry juice and I thought something must be seriously wrong with me, but my doctor was not at all concerned. I only use unsweetened cranberry juice from a health food store because of my Candida problems. And I know for certain mine was caused by a combination of wiping the wrong way - I was have extremely toxic bowel movements because I was detoxing & chelating mercury AND from sex. You seem to be very knowledgable in a technical way. Thanks for the help. I am trying NOT to have another one!!! Ever!!!

The stringy white things could be protien, it is often passed through the tubules and excreted in the urine. Your best bet is to have a check up. Good luck

I don't know too much about Candida but I know a bit about yeast. I have found that yeast has a hard time surviving through the live cultures in yogurt. I know from my experience from yeast with my son and I that yogurt twice a day mayb three can knock out yeast in a week or less. look for yogurts that say on the container live active cultures.
Good Luck
