ive been suffering with reoccuring yeast/vaginal infections for over a year now.i dont know why the pH in my vagina is so unbalanced! i started eating more yogurt, taking probiotics, stopped drinking alcohol, changed my diet, keeping the air dry/clean,....still no change! now i should mention that when this all started it seemed to have started with a bad UTI. which was treated with antibiotics. i think due to the overuse of antibiotics ive developed these other problems..but i cant be sure. also since beginning of the infectious cycle ive had constant pain coming from my urethra. so now my vulva hurts near urethra opening/clitoral hood area. cant hardly stand to be touched or have any sort of contact. also, it just feels like i have a constant yeast infection. discharge and burning.especially bad around the time of my monthly period. ive been to my primary care doctor several times and also visited a urologist and gynecologist. none of which have helped me much. at first they said you might have I.C but they ruled that out with a cystoscopy. and now they are saying its vulvadynia. ook..so no cure for that. i asked my gyno about the relation between the infections and my hormones. if it could be a hormone imbalance, she said no. i dont understand.this is awful and i dont want to live with it anymore. i want to be alble to have sex again. im only 22 for christs sake. can anybody help me out of this frustrating condition??
As far as the yeast issue, I would start on some natural antifungals such as garlic, olive leaf extract, caprylic acid, etc, at a low dose and make sure you're on a good pro-biotic. I thought I was taking a "good one" until I talked to someone at my local health food store and found out it wasn't so good after all. The rest of your issues could very well be related to the yeast as I have also had female issues other than the typical yeast infection as a result.
Keep in mind, with anti-fungals, things will get worse before they get better but just hang in there...go slow and low dose in the beginning and work your way up.
what is a "good" probiotic to be on?
ok thanks. i havent had much luck with the garlic..ill have to try the other things you mentioned. i do have boric acid suppositories that i made myself hoping theyre the same as what the doc prescribes.im assuming?
I've been taking Ortho Biotic by Ortho Moleculars but recently switched over to the RAW Probiotic for Women that has 83 billion live cultures and 32 strains until I get this under control. I'm sure someone at your local health food store could give you some recommendations.
When you have gone to the doctor, do they continually diagnose you with bv and yeast? I have had similar problems for months, especially with the burning and discharge. It started for me with a bacterial infection and then a yeast infection. But every time I have been back to the gyno since, she does not see any yeast or bacteria, yet the issues are still there. I have tried several treatments without any luck. I am to see a specialist next month, but I am losing faith in reading so many stories like yours with similar problems and no relief.
well, it started out that way. they would do a swab and test positive for yeast of bacteria. but now it is not coming back as anything..im wondering if its a different strain of yeast that doesnt show up on the test?
i feel like my vaginas defense is up because of the past infections and never fully recovered or something. they think its something like an allergy or environmental but i have no idea what could be irritating it like this. what specialist are you goin to see? please let me know what happens!
I am going to see a gynecologist that specializes in things like vaginitis. Didn't seem to be any other vulvar specialists in my area. I am hoping that she can shed at least a little more light on my problem. I know she will do the routine exam and probably not see anything abnormal, but maybe she can test for other strains of yeast and bacteria that may not be as easily detected. I just hope she can tell me something I can do for relief. I am so tired of the constant burning, irritation, and discharge. This can't go on forever or I'll go nuts! I will definitely keep you posted on what the doctor says. I am hoping I can get in sooner than next month. I have been checking back for cancellations on a daily basis. :/
i am so sick and tired of it too. i feel your pain.
i cant believe so many people have been strucken with these and yet no answers..
i was just wondering if youve been tested for HPV?
i think i am going to do that next. ive been tested for pretty much everything else in the book.
were you on any medications or like strong antibiotics when this problem came along? im wondering if all my antibiotic use from the earlier infections stripped all the good stuff away. :/
oh and have you had the ph levels tested?
has anything worked for you at all, even a little bit? i feel like i keep trying things but maybe i should leave it alone and stop messing with it.
have you tried taking a baking soda bath or any other sitz bath? i tried the tea tree oil and all that. burned. didnt seem to help?
I have taken a lot of antibiotics in my life for things like sinus infections, etc. I used to be very prone to getting yeast infections when i was younger from them, but haven't really had issues as an adult. Now, I have no idea what is going wrong. I did take antibiotics when all of this started and maybe it set off a cycle, but I still find that hard to imagine since every time I go back now, there is nothing abnormal on my culture. No yeast or bacteria. I don't know if they have checked my PH every time, but I do recall a couple of the doctors telling me my levels were fine. I have been scared to try anything else out of the ordinary, as I don't want to make my problems worse. But I am getting desperate. This is just awful and hate that any other woman has to deal with anything like it!
I had all these same problems for years!! Yeast, BV, bladder irratation..Went To Gyns ,Uroligist. Finally one Gyn said try the Boric Acid capsules as a suppositorry..It worked and the problem finally was gone. I still get flairs..I just use my Boric Acid and it works..I suggest you try it.
Hi I read a statement saying they thought vulvodynia was related to an overabundance of oxalic acid in the diet.
Perhaps things such as spinach, swiss chard, beet, sour dock and rhubarb.
Just in case that helps someone who does not seem to have an infection. Sometimes the bartholins glands can become blocked. A friend of mine used a heating pad for it but if a fungal infection is present a heating pad just might aggravate insteand of help. I lost contact with that friend so I don't even know what her present condition is today.
