How is candida diagnosed?

Is there a standard test to test for candida? Is there a specialty of doctor who would "specialize" in candida? I have many symptoms (fatigue, frequent sinus infections, etc) and suspect I may have candida, but have not found a doctor who wants me to be tested. Over the past few years, I've seen many specialists and had a lot of tests and nothing shows up. My biggest symptom is excessive sleepiness and fatigue. And the fact that I used to take antibiotics almost like candy makes me even more suspicious. Is there any way I can get my doctor to take the possibility of candida more seriously?

Re: How is candida diagnosed?

Dave:
The answer is NO. Traditional drs. do not believe in candida unless your immune system is severely compromised. You can go to natural drs. But even that is a problem because everybody has some yeast in there bodies. so any tests you take shows as having some yeast. I have lots of problems that I feel are yeast oriented, but unless we commit to a very strict diet we will never get better. I might start that at the end of the summer. Also there are certain supplements that can help. Do you live in the NY area? I am falling asleep or else i would discuss this situation more. I will get back to you with more details from what I have learned at a later date, but I was out tonight with friends drinking alcohol and feeding the candida. I cant type anymore. It is bedtime. GN.
