Thrush in adult after surgery?

I just had a hemorrhoidectomy about 12 days ago. A few days after surgery I noticed my tongue had an awful white coating and it was slightly raised. I brushed at it with my toothbrush a bit each day. It is totally gone now - though my tongue was kind of bright red and sore for a few days. Could I have had thrush after surgery - related to the surgery for some reason? I otherwise have fibromyalgia but I don't think related to that....just odd it came about after surgery. Thanks in advance...

Hi DunkinNut, Can be caused by antibiotics like some antibiotics cause yeast infections vaginally for women. need to have your doctor prescibe Nystatin oral suspension.

Re: Thrush in adult after surgery?

I only had antibx DURING surgery - and I'm not even positive about that. I definitely didn't go home on antibx. Could I have gotten it that easily? Wow. The white coating is completely gone.....still think I need the meds?

You could also try a probiotic that you can purchase at the grocery/drugstore and yogurt is helpful too.
