Question male external catheter

Incontinence and the use of external catheter. How can I find out a way to keep these from popping off. Ready to forget and stay water logged. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi
I'm in the same boat. I did however find a product that works very well. It's made by MENTOR. It is a self-adhesive roll on external catheter. They come in various sizes and really work. No problems with them coming off. You just attatch a tubing to your leg bag and that's it.
Hope this helps.

The Mentor product that's best is the Active Cath. You can buy them in cases of 100 and they are individually wrapped. My husband would change his daily when he showered and he used the external leg bag. He used these for years but now has to self catherize 5 times a day because of kidney reflux. He has been paralyzed for 15 years.

Hi there
I'm "Higgin's" wife. Another way around this problem is to get an indwelling catheter. That way you would only have to go to a clinic once a month or so to get it changed. No possiblility of leaking or coming off, and it beats the trouble of having to cath every so many hours.
Just a suggestion.
J.

My husband cannot use one of those with a bag because of the way he sits. Believe it or not I am controlled all day by this urine problem. He has to drink water alot and he needs his urinal soon after. He is too weak to hold it himself due to his Post Polio Syndrome problem. So if I do go out (rarely) and have to be gone more than one hour. I found this external catheter does work but I cut the tubing that leads to the bad and keep about one foot of it exposed so he can aim it whenever he needs to. And he needs to alot!!!!! More than any bag can hold.

We bought a antireflux urinal from a medical supplier and place it someplace where he can access it easy. He can't get in the bathroom. It does work with the external catheter but remember after a while redness and soreness can occur so it is best to get a catheter that has no latex and that is expensive. Keep creams handy for taking it off too and it will make it easier and less irritating. Soothes too. Cut hairs often to keep from getting stickie adhesive stuck to the hairs. JMO
