Much will depend on age, ability to get around, illness problems, etc.
Most elderly people are happier living in their own home to the end of their days.
Sometimes children try to get parents to go to a nursing home premature just to relieve them of checking on them off and on.
Sometimes getting a cargiver to help take care of parents is better than a nursing home. Have to be sure and get a reliable person.
If parents qualify for home health that may be a solution. Someone would come in and help with a bath, etc. a nurse will check on them.
