| Live in caregiver costs
I am moving away and need to replace myself with a live in caregiver for my parents.
They are 87 & 86 with multiple illnesses. They need several medications daily and insulin for mom. They both use walkers and can still feed themselves and do their own grooming and dressing, although bathing is difficult for them. They rely on me for everything else...shopping, cooking, driving to doctors, laundry,cleaning, etc. Dad frequently falls at night when he gets up to use the bathroom, and has early alzheimers which he has been taking aricept for 8 years now.
I would be interested to know what the cost of a full time live in caregiver would be as opposed to nursing home care. Does anyone have a ballpark figure? Thanks.
