Caregiver for Chronic Pain Patient

My boyfriend is a chronic pain patient who is young and not critically ill but has several health problems. I am looking for a support group in the NYC or a person to speak with about how I can handle this better. Its gotten worse in the past few years and I really need some professional advice on many levels here.

Thanks,
Lynne

Re: Caregiver for Chronic Pain Patient

This is the first time I looked at your post. I am usually over at the Alzheimer's or other health issues... You could also try the pain management health issue area.
Well, if you are in NY, you can try to find a part-time caregiver to help him out. It is private pay but if he is young and just needs certain help, you should be able to hire a part-time caregiver who has nurse aid certificate. If you hire a regular caregiver who does not have any certificate, it may be cheaper.
I am not sure what you need here - you need a caregiver for him or you want to do it in a better way? I have no details here so I can only think of hiring a caregiver. Any home care co. should have the info. for you. I hope he does not need a nurse? There is home health care service too but nurse is more expensive.

Take care,
Nina
