Is having a personal assistant effective?
Taking care of a homebound relative while having a full time job can get to be too much to handle at times. Has anyone tried using the services of a personal assistant or ever considered using one to coordinate appointments, errands, etc in taking care of a loved one? If so, what was your experience?

 I'd like to know if having a personal assistant  would help ease the burden and is worth the cost.

Hello Kim5270

I don't see how hiring a personal assistant can do any harm;once the two of you are on the same page.

It will help reduce the stress in your every day life and provide company(even for a little while) for your relative.

I think it is a great idea...I feel that anything that takes the stress out of caregiving both helps the person you are caring for as well as yourself...We have recently hired help in cleaning the house...At first I hesitated doing this, but sometimes we do have to face the fact that we can't do everything....I would say to go for what you are thinking of doing and don't feel guilty...Take care...ILD....
