Wrist pain but I don't think it's CTS - Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Message Board

Hey there. I'm 22 years old. For maybe about the last year, on and off I've had a problem with one wrist where if it bends back with pressure on it, it hurts on the wrist joint on the top, as if it's being compacted that way. Also, when it's bent forward a certain amount it feels like it pops a little and there is a little pain that way as well. So basically it hurts to do a push-up (which I was never big on) or to push open a door with that hand.

There is no pain or tingling in my hand or fingers associated with this; it is only in the joint, and it seems to have nothing to do with typing or mouse usage. Does this sound like any particular condition or something that should go away if I wear a brace and lay off it for a while?

I too have pain in my left wrist. I am a pianist. I use to practice up to 4 hours a day, but dont do that now. Mine hurts on the inside at the joint and also pops too. I have no idea why it hurts.

I'm a pianist also, but I've never practiced more than an hour a day and even that much is rare. Does yours hurt while you play? I have, in the past, had problems with tendonitis-type stuff and hand pain (the worst was from practicing Mozart's "Turkish March"!), but this seems completely unrelated. It does seem though that my hands and wrists are particularly susceptible to injury.

That turkish march will do anybody in that has a smaller hand. Those octives hurt! I havent practiced that much in years. I am a mother of a young child, so sitting at the piano is hard. I do teach piano though. I talked to my mother about it last night and she seems to think it is tendonitis. My neck muscles get very sore from sitting at the computer too. In piano, I am very aware of my posture and relaxation, but I am trying to impliment piano posture with the computer too. I seem to think I can just slump at the the computer. I am paying for it though!
