Hi all... I do not have CTS but I do have a situation that is familiar to the people posting on this forum.

I had an accident where I cut my Ulnar nerve just above the wrist in the padding of the hand (that's the nerve that makes it hurt badly when you hit your elbow). I did this three months ago, and it badly damaged my hand. My left hand is pretty usless now - it is 65% paralyzed, and all the muscle has disappeared. I can't hold things in my hand if they weigh more than about 5 lbs. I can't squeeze or pinch either. I use my arm alot instead of my hand now.

I was very depressed about this as I was looking foward to beginning a new career as a computer technician. I am afraid that almost 4 years of schooling and all the money that went into that schooling is wasted because I don't know if I'll regain 100% use of my hand.

I am also raising 3 wonderful children, which has become very hard - but I'm managing.

I hope that someone out there understands how I am feeling...cause I find that alot of people do not understand just how much your hand is used until you can't use it anymore. And then it is forgotten and you try not to bring it up anymore cause you feel like you're, I don't know, umm, like beating a dead horse, I guess. You're still expected to be the same person, do the same things, you know?
