Help!!! I've had 5 operations on my hands in only 8months!I've had right & left hand CT release in Feb & Mar, I've had RT & Lft triger finger surgery in May & June.I've had a radical tenosynovectomy in Sept. with a re-do CT release & re-do of index,middle & ring fingers.I still have alot of pain in both hands & alot of swelling. My left thumb & index fingers click alot too.My doctor is sending me for a bone scan.And i'm also in therapy. I've had a EMG test last week & still have recurrent CT on both Hands!Also the test showed some slowing at the left forearm up to the elbow. Any Advise Anybody Please. I've been out of work for 13 1/2 months already!!

What was the cause of the injury to your hands? How long did you have symptoms prior to your first surgery? You need someone to help you with case management to sort all of this out. Do you have an Internal Medicine doctor who you trust who can give you some advice on all of this, or who could refer you to someone (other than a surgeon)? It takes a while to recover from surgery, why has it been necessary to have such rapid succession surgeries? Were you in a traumatic accident?

I started having numbness & tingling sensations on both my hands in Dec. of 99. My PCP gave my employer a note that said It looked like I was getting Carpal Tunnel. I did lot of typing on the computer at work. So m employer put it in as Workman's Comp. I was sent to our company doctor who gave me injections on both my hands & some therapy. I also was given wrist braces to wear. Well it didn't work but caused more pain to my hands. Then in Jan of 2000, I had my 1st EMG test. It showed I had Bilateral Carpal Tunnel on both my hands. So I was sent to a surgeon.On December of 2000, 3months after my last surgery, he tells me I need another year off for my hands to heal & more surgery. I went to the Workman's Comp.commission & changed treating doctors. I have been in Phy. Therapy for a month now & I had a bone scan today.I also had another EMG test on the 8th of this month.It still shows I have recurrent carpal tunnel,& slowing at the left elbow & left forearm.But I am having alot of constant pain in both my hands.

It sounds like you have been through a lot. I hope you can find someone who can give you some objective advice on how to proceed. I may be able to find out some information for you. I'll post here if I do.

Boy,I am not going to complain anymore after reading Purple Bingo. I signed on to this website looking for some answers too. I had CT surgery and trigger thumb release 12/7/00. I am still not back to work! I am a school secretary/nurse at a large high school and I am not able to do any amount of writing without getting bad hand cramps or pain. I still have alot of swelling and am unable to completely open my hand or make a fist. I have been in PT since a month after the surgery.....I need to know if anyone else out there is having the same trouble or am I a freak?! My DR. said this surgery would be a piece of cake...NOT! I feel like I am worse off than before surgery...Please someone tell me it gets better!
