My Excellent surgery
Hi there
I just wanted to let people know that surgery can be a very positive experience.
I am not trying to diminish the problems that some people experience post op., but I just wanted people who browse the site wondering and worrying before they embark on surgery - as I did, to know my experience.
I waited a long time for my operation, mainly due the hospital losing or never recieving my doctor's initial letter.
I had bi-lateral carpal tunnel release operations about 4 1/2 weeks ago and I can do everything for myself now and returned to work after 3 weeks exactly. As soon as the operation was performed the pain, numbness, pins and needles etc disappeared from my hands, arms, shoulders and neck. There was some numbness left in three finger tips, but that has righted itself now!
Yes there was some inconvenience and discomfort for a couple of days acutely, and a couple of weeks less acutely, and I have some sensativity in the area of the scar; but if I found myself in the same situation again I would find the money to do it sooner - the only regret I have is that I put up with the condition for so long when I didn't need to.
I can't emphasise how much this simple operation has improved my life, and it could possible improve yours. I can't promise you that you would have such good results, but this has been my experience.
Well the best of luck with whatever decisions you make.
Julie
