What kind of surgeon is best for CT surgery? Is it best to use a plastic surgeon, orthopedic surgeon, a nuerosurgeon? I have been seeing an Orthopedic surgeon, but am now thinking since this is nerve related maybe I should see a neurosurgeon or plastic surgeon. How do you know which is best?

Probably any of the above you mentioned as long as they are speciaizing in hands or have done a lot of carpal tunnel releases with minimal complications.

If possible, ask around to find out who has had the best luck with which drs. ( the ones with the longer waiting list, probably are more in demand?) If you know some nurses that work in those areas, they would be good to ask.
( of course, I didn't do what I am suggesting, before my Feb surgery....only after the surgery when I had complications)

My doctor was an orthopedic doctor. We are with Kaiser Permanente.

The doctor I've been seeing about my carpal tunnel is a plastic surgeon, and also a hand specialist. I had a different surgery with him last year and I was pleased with the results, so if surgery is required for my CTS, I'll have him perform the surgery.

Hi There, I only have one word and that is make sure that the dr. is a hand specialist. Because your hands are your life and you want the best results possible. Take it from someone that used an orthepedic surgeon that had good reviews. Hand surgeon and goodluck, fotballcoach
