I had my nerve conduction test this afternoon. I'm sorry but I have to say that it DID hurt.

I feel like a wimp. It wasn't like I had an EMG with needles. However, I was grimacing in pain,

especially when my left hand was being tested.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal?? The nurse kept saying "are you okay?" And apologizing for the pain.

I was just wondering if the amount of pain experienced in the test means anything or if it is just a matter of indiviual pain tolerance.

Thanks so much. I don't know what I'd do without this board!

Yes Thetestis Verypainful I Had Itdone Twice. Sometimes They Are Inconclusive The Symptoms Are Whatcountsif You Have The Pain And Numbness Thats What Matters. Dontgive Up .

I had the nerve conduction test done on both hands last month and other than the muscles jumping, it didn't hurt much. It's the test where they touch this wand thing with two metal prongs (for lack of a better word) to different parts on your hand right? I'm not sure how many different types of nerve conduction test there are. The test showed that I had moderate CT in my left hand and mild in my right. I went to see a general surgeon and he said that those test aren't very conclusive as they don't tend to get to the extent of damage the CT is causing. Anyway, the test didn't hurt for me just felt a little strange but everyone is different. I had surgery on my left hand on 2/16 and surgery scheduled for my right hand on 3/9.

Thanks Shaelin. My test was having electrodes stuck to my wrists and fingers and the electrical source plugged into these electrode things. I didn't expect it to hurt like it did. I read up on it so I'd be prepared. It's probably just different for everyone. How was your first surgery? Do you notice any improvement yet? Good luck on your second surgery.
