| Re: Husband has severe Carpal Tunnel In both hands how long to recover from surgery?
Well it depends on the person. I've read and now know firsthand that it could take up to one year to be fully recovered. However, he will be doing most of his regular activities around a month. He will have about 2 weeks in a bandage and during that time he will have to find different ways of doing things. For me being female, I had to use sports bras so I didn't have to hook up a regular bra. You learn to use both the inside of your elbow and the outside in place of using the hand while it's bandaged. Just take my word for it, he'll find a way to do things. The carpal tunnel in the hand not operated on will probably get worse during the time the first hand is healing because he will be using it more. But I'd have the operation again in a heartbeat. Tell him not to handle heavy objects for that first year. I helped my husband remodel a bathroom when my hands were 6 and 9 months post-op. I shouldn't have helped move a bathtub and glass doors. Yesterday I was diagnosed with tendonitis.
