Bilateral Carpal Tunnel in both hands - Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Message Board

Hi I posted on the neurology forum and I just had a EMG test and the doctor told me I have Bilateral Carpal tunnel in both hands.

I have numbness in my thumb, my pointer finger and middle finger only and Severe Pain in the center of my left hand.

The doctor was oriental so I couldn't understand him to good but said (rare) to his nurse so now I am wondering what really is going on with me.

My feet are killing me also I am having a heck of a time walking for pain.

I am just wondering if anyone thinks the two are connected and what I should be taking for pain. I am on Lyrica but thats not helping.

And I have to wait till my doctor gets the report.

sorry. I used to have carpal tunnel in both arms. It's now only in one. I did have ulnar nerve releases...but that isn't the same thing.

I do have nerve pain in my legs....and now feet. I take neurontin (It works better for me than lyrica), percocet, and ultram. I can function with those meds.

They can't find a cause for my stuff.

If you are going to have the surgery, I'd recommend it based off of my ulnar nerve releases - cause the longer a nerve is compressed, the more permanent damage there is - and muscles waste.

I couldn't fathom guessing on if the 2 are related. I've been dealing with leg/foot/arm nerves hurting for 1 1/2 yrs and they can't even tell me what it is....so who knows.

Thanks for answering I have since been to the podiatrist and he said I have severe planter fasitis and taped my worst foot the left one and gave me a shot in it.

And then to have both hands with carpal tunnel I have to have surgery if my neurologist will do it. He does carpal tunnel patients but I don't have an appointment till the 31 of May.

My family doctor gave me 20 lortab and told me to only take them when its bad-DUUUUUUUUUUUH I told him its bad I can't walk or hold any thing. So I will only take them once in awhile till my twenty are gone then hope I can make it till I see my neurologist.

I had bilateral cts for 5 years before I said "enough" and had them operated on. I had thumb, pointer and middle finger pain. I had pain that went almost to my elbow. What you describe is typical of cts. I was on Naporsyn for 5 years. It's a prescription form of Aleve. I also have pain in my toes, which I think is from my weight. Are the 2 connected? Not sure. I don't think so in my case. However, I researched it online and you can get the equivalent of carpal tunnel in your feet. I think it's called Tarsal tunnel. I think what I get in my toes is arthritis. Is cts surgery for you? Well, do you drop at least one thing everyday without trying? Are you in constant pain? Do you have to sleep and drive with splints on your hands? I did. I also made the mistake of doing too much too soon and now I have tendonitis in my hands. I am glad I had the operation on both hands and I would do it again. But--keep in mind it will take up to a year to be fully healed. 1-2 months past surgery you will be getting back to normal.
