EMG post test pain

My husband has type one diabetes. He had muscle wasting in his right hand, but not much, if any, pain. He had an EMG and nerve conduction test with a diagnosis of severe carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve entrapment. Since the tests he has had tremendous pain in his hands and arms, even after carpal tunnel and ulnar release surgery. Anyone have these tests cause severe pain that did not occur before?
