Quick fix or am I just putting it off? - Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Message Board

Been through a nerve study, lots of x rays and 3 specialists, the last one just gave me a cortisone shot in the elbow. She said that this would do one of two things, relieve the pain from the Medial Epicondylitis, or on the downside this shot would not alleviate the pain and I'd have to go in for surgery in a few months.
Have any of you folks been through something like this? It's got me a little worried...

The only time I had a (one) cortisone shot was when I had dequervains tendonitis in my wrist. Unfortunately it didn't help me and I ended up having surgery.

Some surgeons will try other methods first such as cortisone to see it helps before doing surgery.

I would make sure you see a surgeon who is either a hand surgeon or a upper limb specialist if you decide to go through with the surgery.

Thanks for the reply! So far so good as the shot seems to have alleviated the pain I had going from the inner elbow to the pinky. Movement/strength is at 90% and improving as well. Saw a great Dr here in town who is also a hand and general orthopedic surgeon and she said it may work. I hope this does...
