Return to work time post CT surgery - Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Message Board

I am now looking at CT surgery. I see my Dr. again on friday. Neurologist I saw today says he is convinced it's CT.

How long were you off of work? How long was light duty? How much PT post surgery? Thanks, Lab

I would say 3 weeks before you can start doing more normal things. I didn't work when I did my surgery but I think you need to have time to heal before you try doing things like typing, carrying anything, etc. Stitches stay in for 2 weeks.

I had CT surgery on Sept.15th..Plaining to return to work (not Real Sure) on or around the 3rd of Nov. Work in a factory that involves alot of lifting..Had CT surgery on right hand last Oct. and it helped 95%..Good Luck to all..!

I Went Back To Work Too Soon, I Would Suggest Wait The 8 Weeks And See How You Feel. If You Go Back To Using Your Hands Too Soon You Might Have More Damage.. It Happened To Me.

I am getting ready to have the surgery in another month. When you say using the hand too soon can cause more damage do you mean that you cannot use the hand at all? Or does everyone mean like carrying heavy things, or typing, etc...Just how much can you use the hand after surgery--carry a dish to the sink? Or nothing at all??
