wrist and fingers locked up - Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Message Board

I'm a 54 year old female who is of average weight and quite fit. Recently while riding my harley on a short ride, my middle finger locked up and the only way I could get it out was to physically pry it open with my other hand. I stopped and shook my hand, arm out for a few minutes. Felt a little crampy,but continued on. Soon, it happened again only this time all the fingers were curled up and my wrist also. I felt extreme contraction all the way up to my inner elbow. I went to the emergency room wanting to eliminate stroke or heart attack as it is in my left arm. I was diagnosed with trigger finger which I'm not completely sold on. I can replay my wrist locking up by sitting with my elbow on a hard surface and bending my wrist downward. It seizes up and gets quite painful and I have to stop. Any ideas would help. Thanks in advance.

hey, i have the same problem as you. All fingers on both hands. As I work as a Industrial Grinder at age 23. All my fingers get stuck in the closed position and i have to pry them open by putting them on the edge of a table so i can continue working. Very painful i know. I think we may have something different than CTS. Possible athritis maybe?

Have you seen a dr, or specialist about your problem yet? I haven't, as being affraid of losing my job. But maybe your dr could reffer you to a specialist of some-sort..

Well I hope you are doing better, as i know this problem personally. And it SUCKS.

you have trigger finger ...........i just had my right hand middle finger and left hand first finger operated on its a simple operation and it takes 3-4 weeks to heal enough to return to work but about another month to have completer relief from the scaring ........

trigger finger is when the tendon has to be put back into the shute that goes to the tip of the fingers.
