Post cubital tunnel surgery?

hello, im 28 yrs old and my doc just told me yesterday i have cubital tunnel syndrome, hes sending me to have an emg next week on wed. i was just wondering how bad this has to be before he considers surgery. i work in a factory building cable harnesses. some are really heavy and the tools i use is just constantly squeezing of the hand and moving the elbow back and forth. ive been doing that for 6 yrs now. the pain in my elbow is getting crazy, and the numbness and tingling in my hand is driving me nuts. do you think my doc will request i have surgery despite what the emg will say?

Re: cubital tunnel surgery?

I don't think the EMG results will matter that much. I just had submuscular transposition surgery done on May 26th. My EMG showed some slowing of the ulnar nerve Through other generic testings it was discovered that I had cubital tunnel syndrome and needed surgery despite the okay results of the EMG.

Re: cubital tunnel surgery?

Hi crissie i am from Canada and if the company you are working for has a Workers compansation board yes the emg or nerve conduction test is important before they cover the surgery. after you get your test done your doc should send you to an orthopedic surgen to comfirm his findings. and if he and the tests agree[ mostly the orthopedic surgen] the orthopedic should refer you to a plastic surgen to do the operation.

the operation does not take very long less then an hour and if it is just intrapped you could be back to regualor work in less then a week.

good luck i hope every thing works out for you
