Re: Tightness and muscle spasms in right hand - Could this be Carpal TunnelP?
I've had surgery on my left hand once and twice on my right hand. Scar tissue from the first operation squeezed the nerve making a second surgery necessary. In between the surgeries on my right hand I would have shooting pains. Like someone putting a needle in my hand. Sort of like the needle coming from inside my hand and heading out. I discussed this with both a physical therapist and the doctor who did my second surgery. He was a hand specialist, whereby the first surgery was in another state and done by an orthopedic doc. What my PT and hand specialist told me was that my brain sent out messages that were going to the wrong place. The nerve was being interferred by the pressure put on it and so the message would wind up in an area of my hand that it wasn't supposed to be. Does this help with the muscle spasm question? As for the weak feeling, oh yes, that is typical of CTS. I found some yoga exercises just for carpal tunnel. I also found accupressure exercises for it too. I also read that good posture, not being overweight, eating right and getting enough sleep will help CTS. My PT gave me hand stretching exercises and some hand strengthening exercises to help build up the strength in my hands. All helped. While I'm still working on all of this, every little bit helps. Good luck.
