can cortisone shot affect EMG/NCS

just had a cortisone shot in my left wrist for carpal syndrome. I would like to know if -- cortisone, being an anti-inflammatory, effect and EMG/ncs study? I just had a cortisone shot a couple days ago, and would like to know if an EMG done at this point could come up negative even if it was positive. Any input would be helpful.

Re: can cortisone shot affect EMG/NCS

I would think it would have some effect on it. However, I think your doctor would know when to schedule you for the EMG. He should know how soon to have it done after the shot. If your CTS is bad enough, then even a shot won't help and CTS will show up on your EMG.
