| Re: Carpal tunnel decompression
I go in for open carpal tunnel release surgery on june first. I also have lyme disease which has caused severe painful sensory neuropathy and probably contributed to the worsening of my cts. I take gabapentin for the nerve pain. 300mg, in my experience, is a very low dose. Your doctor is probably taking into consideration your other medical problems. I don't remember what dosage I started at 2 years ago, but I now take 3 400mg capsules three times a day. I am allowed to take more if necessary, but at this high a dose the effectiveness of more is decreased.
Are your electric shock pains happening when you move your fingers/wrist or when you are at rest? I was told that these pains are a normal part of some people's recovery, but might be minimized by avoiding flexing your fingers and wrist at the same time.
I'm looking forward to not waking up with numb hand and pain radiating up past my elbow and to be able to type and feel my right hand completely.
I'll keep a look out for your posts. Try doing a search for pain patches. I'm not familiar with them.
