Can CTS affect forearm?

Hello,
I've been dealing with a "strange" numbess/weakness in my forearms (mainly left one). It's near the elbow and usually it get worse after typing in my computer. I work as a software developer and I'm all the time in front of my computer.

My understanding was that CTS affects the hands. Is it possible that CTS affect the forearm muscles also?

Thank you

Re: Can CTS affect forearm?

True CTS generally affects the hands. But it's caused by overuse of the forearm muscles. While you may not have CTS, you may be dealing with an over use of the muscles and it may eventually develop into carpal tunnel.

Re: Can CTS affect forearm?

Hi. I was diagnosed with CT in August. My symptoms were numbness and tingling and electric shock like sensations in my fingers, wrist pain and swelling. I also had pain in my forearm. In June, I fainted and fell on the floor in my house and when I "came to", my arm from the elbow down was swollen and sore. I saw the Orthopedist who told me to wear a splint 24/7 and then just at night. He also wanted to operate on my wrist to relieve the pain in that area as well as my elbow. I've been going to Acupuncture and he treated my wrist a few times and thank God it's feeling better finally. I hope
you find some pain relief soon.
