Question a new pain

I had carpal tunnel surgery done 3 weeks ago and thought all was going pretty well. The last two days I have developed a pain in a part of my hand that I never felt before. It comes and goes quite often but is never gone long. Sometimes it is very sharp and other times dull and throbbing. Could it be nerve pain? Should it go away? Is it normal after surgery? It was not there the first two weeks.

Re: a new pain

Hard to say. I had broken my fibula in my foot years ago and when I was lying down with my foot raised I could feel something start in my hip and then it was like a shock wave, it would go all the way down to my foot. I learned much later that it's the body's way of healing. This could possibly be the case with your hand. I can also tell you that when I had cts real bad I'd get these funny pinprick type feelings in strange place on my hands. After talking to my physical therapist after surgery, we came to the conclusion that my brain was sending out nerve impulses that would go in the wrong directions because the cts was so bad. Have I confused you enough? Wait and see if you continue to have the pain and if so I'd call your doctor.
