My father has been diagnosed with celiacs after being very ill for about a year. The family was tested and my blood test showed positive antibodies (43units whatever that means?)Doctor showed me i was in the moderate range with 50 units being high. Does this mean i have celiacs or am likely to develope it?
Tell me which blood tests they did--IgA, IgG, Ttg, Endomysyial?
I got a good education when I had mine done and I have some research info on them.
Also, what is normal on the lab they used and did they check you for bone density or malabsorbtion problems?

Hi Tasha the blood test was iga and gliadin. I dont think they checked bone density or malabsorbtion problems.
But i have to go for a gastrocopy next week because of the positive antibody results.
I dont have any symptons except for now and then chest pain, also depression, and just recently i have had a really dull ache in my left arm which feels like its in the bone if that makes any sense. The doctor sent me to get my heart checked out because of the chest pains and the arm pain was the left side. My heart has checked out fine.
Here's the tests I had--I had the Gliadin IgA (slightly positive)
Gliadin IgG (negatvie)
and TtG negative.
My bone density test showed little problem, I had no anemia and no deficiencies.
So, for myself we went with a wait and see attitude.
You are more brave than I am, I refused any tube down the throat because according to research I did on the web, I am in the less likely to have Celiac category.
If you have the Endoscopy, make sure you read up on it (they must take a certain number of biopsy samples in order to get good results.) You can still have negative biopsy with Celiac, you can have negative blood tests with Celiac. It's all rather up in the air. In my case, we decided to run a blood test every few years to see if anything changes. However, if you had all positive blood tests, best to check it out.
Keep us posted.
