Unhappy Both my kids have Celiac Disease!

I just talked to the doctors office and my 14 yr old son does, indeed, have Celiac. His reading is a 154, normal is <24.
My 4 yr old son was tested for this a week ago and came up positive also, his reading was 61.
I, however, do not have it, my test was normal.
My mother is being tested for this too as she has many stomach and bowel problems, we are waiting for those test results.
My 4 yr old doesn't know what is going on but my 14 yr old is very angry about all of it. It is a life altering disease. They say it "just an easy diet change" but that is not true, I have been doing the gluten-free diet for my 4 yr old since he was diagnosed and it is not easy. Plus, he doesn't like the food. We already have a problem with him being very underweight, when he was an infant he was considered failure to thrive. He is a tiny little guy and a picky eater, now it's even worse. On the plus side, he hasn't had vomiting since I changed his diet.
With all his other problems, ADHD, mild Autism, impulse control disorder and he is on Risperdal for aggression and violence, he really didn't need this too. I feel so bad for him and hate myself for doing all this to him. The celiac came from my side as my boys have different fathers. My 4 yr olds father, I found out after I was pregnant, was addicted to and smoking crack at the time I became pregnant, which I am sure caused alot of his mental illness. That is what I hate myself for, doing that to him.
Anyway, I will stop whining now. Thank you all for reading and being patient with this long and babbling post.
Take care,
Chellaine

Re: Both my kids have Celiac Disease!

Chellaine: Did you have a biopsy or blood test? My Mom has Celiac and I am having some of these tummy woes, but my blood tests show negative so for now I am just going to have one ever few years. You might want to do the same thing.
As for your past, you dont beat yourself up! I am sure you are a caring loving Mom and God will forgive you, so you forgive yourself! I'll bet it isnt easy, but I'll bet you do everything in your power to help your children.
Just wanted to send you blessings and encouragement for the day!
