Does anyone of Celiac disease? My initial tests came back normal (tissue transglutaiase, IGA antibody, immunoglobulin A and gliadin antibody), but I was recently told that my uncle (mother's brother) has avoided wheat for years because it makes him sick. My grandmother (deceased) and brother have had mysterious irritable bowel syndrome their whole lives.... I am going to make plans to see a GI doctor and try to get a colonoskopy and biopsy. Some close relatives have had pre-cancerous tumors so I think the Dr. will do it for that and hopefully take a biopsy while he/she's at it. I also have had some chronic blood in stools but do not have colitis or chron's.

Did anyone here have hard to diagnose celiac disease? There's a strong link with CD and neuropathy and I can't help but hope there's a chance I have it.

My thoughts are why wait to see the DR. to start to heal your intestinal lining. Your intestinal cells die every 3 days so take L-Glutamine and Probiotics especially ''Lacto Reuteri'' will help in rebuilding the mucosal lining....

Sarah, my 45 year old daughter has CD. It was very difficult to diagnose. She also has neuropthy and diabetes.

You might just have hemorrhoids but why take a chance when colon cancer is curable when caught early. My daughter had a colonoscopy following the CD diagnose and the doctor found 3 pre-cancerous polyps. She had to have 3 more colonoscopies 6 months apart. She has one every 2 years now. Doctors routinely do biopsies when doing the colonoscopy.

I've suffered like the rest of you with burning and numbness of my feet, legs and hands. I finally got referred to a local medical school-neurology for diagnostic tests. The neurologist came up with a link between celiac (I had a strongly positive blood test) and small fiber neuropathy. She sent me to a gastro doctor for a biopsy of my small intestine. I do not have the genetic Celiac disease but I do have an allergy to wheat. I adhere to a gluten-free diet and I feel so much better. I am hoping for a reversal of my neropathy (any improvement would be great). The doctors say it may take a year or longer. I was amazed at the connection between celiac and neuropathy--I am an RN and never heard of it. Learn someting new everyday.
