| Celiac disease? Please help my children!
Hello all. My boys ages 13 and 15 have long had issues with stomach pain and diarrhea that come together, but only off and on. My 13 year old says it happens "only" 3 or 4 times a week usually, and my 15 year old says that sometimes he'll only get it a few times a month, and other times it will be a few times a day.
My 13 year old son is ridiculously skinny, complains of bone and joint pain, gets nosebleeds very often, and has been having foamy diarrhea upwards of 10 times a day the past few days. Last night he came to me and said that he went to pee and the stream split in opposite directions and it hurt a bit.
I have no idea what to make of all this. My 13 year old was considered lactose intolerant as an infant and had to be put on lacto-free formula because of failure to thrive, projectile vomiting, and excessive diarrhea/diaper rash.
I am wondering if he has celiac disease mainly, but this "split stream" thing had me thinking about kidney stones.
If anyone has any thoughts on this please contribute. We are having stool cultures done this weekend and my oldest son sees a GI specialist Wednesday, with the 13 year old tagging along.
Thanks!
