Celiac and Fruit

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone who has celiac disease has trouble w/ fruit?

I am waiting on a blood test for celiac, but I notice when i'm not eating gluten and am eating fruit, I'm still bloated and gassy. Could be something totally unrelated.

Thanks,
Joeys

Re: Celiac and Fruit

Fruit has alot of fiber and fiber can make you gassy, celiac or not.

Bananas seem ok for me, apples have always been troublemakers.

Re: Celiac and Fruit

I have celiac and fruit doesn't bother me at all. In fact since my diagnosis I eat a lot more fruit.

Re: Celiac and Fruit

Maybe what you have is actually a fructose intolerance and not gluten? Or perhaps you don't tolerate a lot of sugars, in general?
Try a week of no fruit, and then add in something lower in sugars, like a small portion of fresh or frozen raspberries (be sure no juices/sugars were added) and see what happens.
