How long did it take you to recover completely?

Hi everybody,

I have been diagnosed as gluten intolerant on August 22, 2011. Prior to that I was feeling as if I was dying and was bedridden. I really was feeling like that was the end of my life.
I went gluten free and felt a little better, only to develop new intolerance. Now I can no longer have milk, grains, legumes, nuts, oils, etc.
Starting October 22nd I went on a Paleo diet (just because I could not eat anything else). However, by that time I was diagnosed with gastric erosion. I am on Prilosec now and, according to my doctor, going to be for another six months.

My question is: even though I do not feel like dying anymore, I am still not 100% myself. My energy levels are quite low. Yes, I can exercise, but not for a long time.

I am not anemic, I have no thyroid problems, my level of vit D, B12 and everything else are completely normal.

How long does it take before I get my energy back? Do you think it is normal for me not to recover fully after being gluten free for four months?

I don't know for sure if I have celiac at this point but I should say you are off to a good start with your vit levels. I am deficient in D, b12, ferretin and have hashimotos. I have stuggled with vitamin levels for the last 2 years. You should have a speedy recovery, due to your ability to absorb vitamins, and your lack of a deficient in that arena.

Prilosec helped me a great deal when I developed bad gastritis and ulcers.

From having neuro Lyme I know the feeling of feeling like death, and you would be surprised how quickly one can recover when on the right protocol. I am a veggie and won't be consuming anymore gluten so it poses a challenge.
