Our 15mo old daughter has been diagnosed w/ cp by a Physiatrist, but not by her Pediatrician, Neurologist or Developmental Pediatrician. We are very confused. She has PT and OT once a week and in 4 months, has made great progress. She is starting to crawl, but has trouble holding her head up. Her movements are slow and shaky (most of the shaking or bobbing is in her head). Why do her Dr's not want to diagnose her at this point. We've ruled out anything else. The physiatrist told us that her cp is dyskinetic. She is not at all stiff or limp. Has anyone seen this before and what should we expect?

Personally, I would seek the opinion of her neurologist. Has she even had an mri? Our neuro has told us that she wouldn't commit to a diagnosis until we had an mri at 1 yr old (it's scheduled in April for our son). Some docs are very conservative about the diagnosis, but to have one diagnosing it and the others just waiting would drive me nuts. I would approach the neuro and (be direct) explain that the other doc has already diagnosed it and you want it confirmed or denied. I have no direct experience with that type of cp, but I hope you get some answers.
