CP and Growth Issues? - Cerebral Palsy Message Board

Hi

I am new here and have some questions. I have a 3 year old son. He seems to display the signs of cerebral palsy. He is severely speech impaired, runs with a wide based gait, and occasionally drools. I feel he has CP, and had it from birth. I was just wondering for those of you with children who have CP, did their height become affected. My son was a large baby of average height, but he fell off the charts at about 18 months. The dr. wasn't concerned with his small stature, just that he fell away from his normal growth pattern. His bone age 6 months ago was dtermined to be between the ages of 15-18 mths. I can hardly believe that, he is now in 2T pants 7 months later. Yet he seems to be the same height as he was before. Anyone familiar with this or been through. Thanks.

My son's height was not affected. In fact, he's quite tall. But that doesn't mean anything for your child. CP has a wide array of symptoms. If you're not satisfied with the doctor's response, consult with him or her again and maybe seek a second opinion.

Does he have problems with eating (=chewing, swallowing etc.)?

CP in itself does not affect one's height.

What I can't figure out is why his blood work came out fine for having enough vitamins and nutrients. I guess its because me and his dad are short, and maybe our is just a slow grower. The dr. wants to do a height check next month, hopefully I can get more information on whats going on.
