Talking I have a mild case of CP and have a Question

I have a mild case of CP, and I just had a baby 2 months ago I've also been married for just about 7 months. Anyway, I was just wondering if there was anyone out there was interested in talking to me?

Re: I have a mild case of CP and have a Question

Hi Mom2,

Welcome aboard!

Congratulations on your marriage the new addition!

How old are you? What type of CP do you have? I'm a 24 year old guy with spastic diplegia. Despite using 2 canes to get around, I'm more active than most ABs I know.

It always makes my day to hear that folks with CP are getting married, having kids and living full lives. How did you find pregnancy with CP? There is very little in the way of research and literature in this area and I'm sure others would like to hear about the experience as well..

Also, if you don't mind my asking, is your partner an AB? All the girls I've ever dated were ABs... I find that most PWDs look for AB partners since they feel that they don't need any more extra attention.. The tough part is sifting through everyone and finding someone who shows a little (but not too much) compassion... It's really a fine balance.

If you'd like to share your experiences with finding your mate please do so... Many of us (myself included) have been through a few hits and misses so I'm always enlightened by the experiences of others in this area.

FS

Hi,

I would like to also congratulate you on your marriage and the birth of your child! How was your pregnancy? Did you have any difficulties? And how is it like being a new mother?

I'm sure you'll find many compassionate people on this board who are very helpful. I too have a very mild case of cp...to be honest, I don't think I can even define my case. When I was born, I was delivered normal, it's just due to the negligance of the nurse, I couldn't breathe as I was on my stomack and then suffered cerebral hypoxia. This is the only term I was told.

However, I wish I was like the rest of these wonderful people and look at my problem in a positive way, I didn't and took my problem very negatively, which caused too much self-consciousness. I'm very independant and thank God P/T really helped my problem be almost invisible - except when I get nervous

Anyway, almost 29 y.o and I'm slowly getting over it, or at least trying to anyway. My next goal is to meet a wonderful man and have children. I don't think I could image my life without children. I'm hoping and praying it will happen soon

Well I love to hear you birth story! Was it very painful for you?

Wishing you well

Hi and Welcome!

Congratulations on your marriage and birth of your baby. I am a 38 year old mother of three who has spastic CP on the left hand side. I am unable to use my left arm or leg. My pregnancies were normal and healthy pregnancies. How about yours? I have not met too many people with cp that have had children. I'm always interested in hearing other stories.
