CP and Working (Keeping a job or making money)?

OK I was just wondering if anyone who is on this board has any problems getting or keeping jobs and feel that it's do to their CP?
Right now I have a part time job and am also on SSD.. I don't really get enough hours to make ends meet at this point, I recentley tranfered to another town and the store I work at isn't even giving me 25 hours a week which is the most at this point I can work do to being on SSD.. They are giving me about 20 hours a week and that 5 or so hours is making a big differance believe it or not.. Question is does anyone know of any way that we could get a little more income, or enough income so I could just get off of SSD? I am almost 40 years old and I am getting tired of being on SSD to tell the truth.. I would love to have a full time job but at this point I wouldn't be able to handle it I don't think, and selling stuff just to make it isn't something that I want to keep doing.. I guess what I am saying is I want to be more indepentant when it come to money and trying to find ways to make money in my case hard..

What kinds of jobs do those of you with CP on this board have? Does anyone have a part time job like me and find it hard to make ends meet? Anyone have a full time job, or run their own business? I need some ideas on ways to make at least a little more money..

Sorry to hear your going through a lot of problems with your job! I am 38 years old. I run my own business from home. I own and operate a small home daycare. I have been doing this for 17 years. I make good money so I do not get any money from AISH(Assured income for the severally disabled). I'm sorry I could be much help as all I've done most of my adult life is care for children. Hopefully others on the board will be able to assist you! Good Luck!

Albertarose,
Actually that's exactly what ga and I have been talking about doing. He worked with kids when he was younger and LOVED it. The biggest problem though is unfortunately, he has a penis. I'm not kidding! People don't trust men to watch their kids!

I know of a few men that are providers while their wives go out of the home and work and let me tell ya, these men are awesome. Their home is always full of children. I guess it all depends how you present yourself as a provider. In my area I am the only provider that is active with the children outside of my home. I take these kids swimming, parks, library programs, play gym, on and on despite my CP. I can only use one arm and one leg properly and I have had other providers tell me that they could never do what I do with their two good arms and legs. I say you can do whatever you want as long as you put your mind to it. Try it and see what happens! Let me know!!!

Re: CP and Working (Keeping a job or making money)?

Have you looked into starting an online business, selling gifts, etc. How about desktop publishing? Designing business cards, invitations etc.

Actually, I've had my own business for the past 3 years after graduating college. It's an online ecommerce business (gift shop) and I'm hoping to open up a store too.

Hope everything works well for you.

Best wishes
