Assisted income for the Disabled - Cerebral Palsy Message Board

Okay everyone, this has been on my mind for a while now, expecially since I am going to move away from home in about one years time.

I live in Canada, and my doctors have told me that since I have had a few jobs throughout my life, there is no change of me getting any "free money" from the government every month once i turn 18 . I know that there is this thing called AISH: Assisted income for the Severly hanicapped, but with the earning potential I have, I am not liable for that. Does anyone know of any TAX breaks, or anything like that, which i may be able to take advantage of? I have also heard that disabled people (regardless of what kind of handicap) that live in America get a disability check every month. IS this true? and if so, how much is it?

I doubt that is true because I've never seen a dime from the government because of my disability!

I think if you're approved for Social Security Disability you do get money...I have no clue how much, though. Probably not that much
